Pyotr Tchaikovsky

Pyotr Tchaikovsky

The Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky was already internationally renowned during his lifetime for many of his works. Today, they are considered among the most important works of the Romantic period. In Russia, he is regarded as the most important composer of the 19th century, even though he did not belong to the Group of Five, but continued the school of Anton Rubinstein, which was influenced by Western influences. Tchaikovsky's best-known compositions include his last three symphonies, the Violin Concerto, his First Piano Concerto, the 1812 Overture, and his opera Eugene Onegin. With Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, he also composed the two most famous ballets in music history.
