Bienvenue à Paris
Opéra Bastille
The Opéra Bastille is the second pillar of the Opéra national de Paris alongside the Palais Garnier - and the opera houses could hardly be more different in appearance. Around 1,700 applicants submitted designs for the new opera house, some of which were more elegant and more typical of Paris. However, the then President of France, François Mitterand, chose the one by Carlos Ott and so the opera house was inaugurated on July 13, 1989 - the eve of the 200th national holiday. The glass and granite façade conceals one of the most modern stage technologies in the world: the nine different stages and props stored in the wings can be changed within minutes.
Make your visit to the opera an exclusive and unforgettable experience. We will be happy to assist you in planning your individual opera trip.
