Semperoper

Willkommen in Dresden

Semperoper

As a baroque city, Dresden offers not only the Semper Opera House, the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger, but also a countless number of architecturally exemplary buildings that are not only interesting for art lovers. If you are looking for a more peaceful excursion into nature, take a walk along the banks of the Elbe or visit the Dresden Heath in the north-east of the city. A trip to Meissen to the world-famous porcelain manufactory is also worthwhile. The Semperoper has been one of the most important opera houses in Europe for over 350 years - a jewel in Dresden's historic city center. The opera house takes its name from the architect and co-founder of modern theater architecture, Gottfried Semper. Due to its prominent position, not only because of the traditional Saxon State Orchestra, the Semperoper has also been the venue for many world premieres, including The Flying Dutchman (1843), Salome (1905) and Elektra (1909). Christian Thieleman took up his post as chief conductor in the 2012/2013 season and the Semperoper still fully lives up to its reputation today. Many new productions, the excellent ensemble and outstanding international performers make a visit to the historic opera house, whose architecture is second to none, an exclusive experience that you should not miss. Make your visit to the opera an exclusive and unforgettable experience. We will be happy to assist you in planning your individual opera trip.
