
Daniel Barenboim
Daniel Barenboim was born in Buenos Aires, where he gave his first piano concert at the age of eight. After conducting numerous orchestras around the world, he became principal conductor of the Orchestre de Paris in 1975. From 1991 to 2006, he was principal conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Daniel Barenboim participated in the Bayreuth Festival from 1981 to 1999, conducting Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, Tristan und Isolde, and Parsifal, among others. Since 1992, the Argentine-Israeli-Spanish-Palestinian conductor has been artistic director and general music director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. He is also a regular guest at major opera houses around the world. Barenboim has received numerous international honors and awards, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
